The Seed House is a seed company which sells several brands of seed corn & beans, wheat and numerous varieties of grasses and forage crops. They do not handle any fertilizer or chemical products. O’Neill is a small town in north central Nebraska with a population of 3,300 people. It is the official "Irish Capitol of Nebraska." and is well known for their St. Patrick Day celebration. O’Neill is located 82 miles NW of Norfolk, 110 miles N of Grand Island and 60 miles from the Missouri River. There are numerous stores and eating establishments including an Alco, Pamida, Radio Shack, Bomgaars, Pizza Hut, Taco John & Dairy Queen along with a variety of small shops and restaurants scattered throughout the town. Farming is the principal area of employment in the community and soybeans, corn, wheat, potatoes and cattle are the major products produced in the surrounding area. Summers interns working for the scouting program at The Seed House would be responsible for scouting irrigated crops such as corn, popcorn, beans and wheat looking for possible disease and insect damage and the over all conditions of fields. The pay is excellent based upon experience and willingness to learn and they are willing to train. Interns working for The Seed House in the past have majored in many different fields including agronomy, physical therapy, dentistry, mass communication and biology.
